SDN DAPUR

SDN Dapur Elementary School is located in the Batukliang Utara sub-district of Central Lombok Regency. The school has 156 students and 10 teachers. Before the 2018 earthquakes, SDN Dapur had six permanent classrooms and one teachers' office. The classrooms were occupied by 1st-grade to 6th-grade students.

The earthquakes damaged three of the classrooms, leaving them in a condition that was not safe for learning. We have supported SDN Dapur with three temporary earthquake-resistant classrooms and supplies (filing cabinet, blinds, whiteboard, cleaning kit, books and stationary). These new classrooms have allowed for the 1st to 3rd grade students to return to school. Parents are motivated to send their children to school to pursue their education now that their anxieties have been put to ease knowing their children are studying in a safe and comfortable learning environment.

The sustainability of the school is guaranteed through close cooperation and collaboration with the government. The community will ensure that the school is properly maintained. Pelita Foundation will carry out regular follow-up visits for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

Construction of the three pop up classrooms started on the 3rd of February 2020. The Pelita Foundation team monitored the progress of the construction to ensure high-quality standards were met. They visited the site various times throughout the building process and are pleased with the cooperation of the community. The entire construction process went well and Pelita Foundation and Classroom of Hope are satisfied that all project objectives have been achieved. Construction was completed on the 12th of February 2020. The classrooms have been occupied since the 13th of February 2020.
