The Dish on Atlanta
Diners have a new culinary hot spot to try at Loews Atlanta Hotel. Saltwood opened in early April with a
charcuterie-driven menu melding Southern and European influences. Executive Chef Olivier Gaupin spoke with
Loews Magazine about the concept. For reservations, visit loewshotels.com/atlanta-hotel.
Loews Magazine: What are three words that describe the flavors of Saltwood?
Olivier Gaupin: Local, crafted and on-trend.
LM: What can diners expect from the new Saltwood experience?
OG: Saltwood really embodies the Midtown Atlanta lifestyle: simple,
sophisticated, communal and fun. People in this neighborhood are always
on the go and heading to social events with friends, so our food is tailored
to this community feel with shareable small plates and charcuterie featuring
local ingredients. The atmosphere plays to this as well with open, adaptable
spaces designed for mingling. Guests looking for a more traditional dining
experience can find that here too, with really beautiful appetizers, entrees
and desserts.
LM: What can diners look forward to on the menu?
OG: We plan to change our menu frequently to keep the experience fresh
and regularly give our guests something new and unexpected to try. We will,
however, have a few mainstays such as the duck sausage, country pate and
some other crafted charcuterie items that guests can look forward to enjoying
again and again.

LM: What is your favorite thing about Atlanta’s food scene currently and what
about it are you particularly excited about?
OG: The Atlanta food scene is hot! After years of people saying we didn’t have a
strong food scene, we now have one of the best. And, in true form to the South,
guests are extremely loyal to comfort classics, which chefs here do particularly
well. All of this makes it an exciting time to be opening Saltwood.
Creative Culture
Music City
Makeover
Loews Vanderbilt Hotel revealed
an extensive guest room renovation
this spring, elevating the property’s
accommodations to the level of the
newly revamped lobby, restaurant and
bar. The new designs borrow details
from traveling musicians’ clothing—
distressed leather that could be taken
from cowboy boots and wood accents
that recall worn guitar cases add to the
moody and artful interiors. Authentic
guitar straps and artworks made up
of bus tickets, concert pins and old
signage appear throughout rooms,
reflecting the bohemian spirit of
Nashville and all the famous names
that have called it home. With the
hotel’s updates, Loews Vanderbilt
Hotel follows the trends in its
surroundings, inviting the culture
and tradition that the city is known
for while staying up-to-date with the
latest in contemporary comfort.
Celebrating art in many forms, Montreal’s Fashion &
Design Festival takes place Aug. 17-22 at Musée d’art
contemporain de Montréal and Place des Festivals. As
the region’s burgeoning creative community has garnered
widespread attention in recent years, the event is now
one of the city’s most anticipated events and attracts
designers, retailers, international icons and, of course,
spectators looking to catch a glimpse of the latest in
fashion, design, music and beauty.
As the official hotel for the Fashion & Design Festival,
Loews Hôtel Vogue provides the perfect headquarters for
participants and attendees. In addition to its chic spaces
and a prime location, the hotel offers special rates and
in-room amenities for those partaking in the festivities. L
