COLOSSIUM MAGAZINE : TELL ME ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH RJZ . FREDDY HAYZ : RJZ and I are very good friends . We were in Mfanstipim together and at some point we came together to form a rap group called TSD . But somewhere along at the line , he parted ways with us to join La Meme . CSM : DO YOU GUYS STILL TALK ? FRH : Definitely . We ’ re brothers . We appreciate each other and respect each other ’ s craft . CSM : IS HE ON YOUR EP ? FRH : No he ’ s not . CSM : ANY REASON WHY ? FRH : No reason at all . I just wanted this project to be about me . I want the EP to be my sound so if you observe , you will realize I featured just one person on it . CSM : WHAT ’ S THE FREDDY HAYZ SOUND ? FRH : I don ’ t think I have a specific sound . I make music based on how I feel at a particular time . It can be whatever genre but it has to come from a place , to me . I like to be connected to my craft emotionally so I ’ m not in the position to categorize or define my sound with specifics . CSM : HOW DID THE WHOLE PROJECT COME ABOUT ? FRH : ‘ Conversations ’ came to me about a year ago . I went through a phase were I had to evaluate myself and the people around me and it mostly about my relationships with these people . I have been working on the EP in bits and pieces but somewhere along the line I decided to give it a full attention and put these pieces together as a whole body of work .

Here ’ s the thing , it all has to do with how I want to be remembered when I ’ m no longer here someday . It ’ s this feeling of producing materials that will last a long time that drive my emotions which I transform into music .

CSM : WHAT MESSAGE ARE YOU SENDING ACROSS WITH YOUR EP ? FRH : It ’ s pretty simple … I think . ‘ Conversations ’ is a body of work that communicates emotions to the listeners because the content comes from a place , a real place . As I mentioned , I make music based on how I feel at a particular time so I ’ m hoping that the audience will be able to feel that in the music . The messages in the various songs are very strong and personal which I believe the audience will be able to relate to . CSM : WHAT KIND OF MUSIC WILL YOU SAY YOU DO ? FRH : I make Freddy Hayz music … plain and simple . CSM : I KNOW YOU ’ RE INTO PROCUREMENT … FRH : Yeah , that ’ s right . CSM : HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR PROFESSION WITH YOUR MUSIC CRAFT ? FRH : Honestly , at the point I will have to say that I ’ m doing music full time . Music is my passion and so I find myself doing it more often than perhaps normal because I will most times come home from work only to get behind my PC and get creative . The only issue I have perhaps has to do with the fact that I don ’ t have much time to do publicity because of my tight work schedules . CSM : THAT MUST BE CHALLENGING . FRH : I wouldn ’ t call it challenging ; I mean it ’ s something I love to do . CSM : WHAT DO YOU CALL YOURSELF , A RAPPER OR MUSICIAN ? FRH : I am a musician . I do music in general , I must say . CSM : DO YOU PRODUCE YOURSELF ?
