The Municipality of Verteneglio-Verteneglio is situated in the northern part of the Istria region, Croatia. The Municipality was funded in 1994 by The Croatian law for the local self-government and its territory extends on the surface of 33 square meters. Verteneglio- Verteneglio counts a little more than 1.600 inhabitants and is divided into 5 smaller picturesque villages. A special characteristic of the territory of Verteneglio is that it is located above four types of soil, all the types of soil that you can find in Istria, which is a unique case in Istria and beyond probably. Along the coast, which has about 3 kilometres, in one-part lies one of the biggest and best Croatian camps, " Park Umag ". It is a bilingual territory and the Italian culture is present in this area.
The main guidelines for the development of the Municipality of Verteneglio- Verteneglio are agriculture and tourism. Special attention is given to the education of the new generations, to sensitize them to respect the nature and to teach them the culture of the area. In fact, the municipal policies give an enormous space to young people. The Municipality of Verteneglio-Verteneglio has cooperation relationships with several institutions, administrative bodies and with a variety of organizations and development agencies, both governmental and non-governmental, local, regional and international.
The Development Agency of Verteneglio-Verteneglio, funded by the Municipality of Verteneglio-Verteneglio has expertise in the field of rural development, in the promotion of ecological agriculture, in the promotion of local products, in the environmental-care policies. In particular, the Development Agency of Verteneglio-Verteneglio can count on a direct contact with the farmers of the area; it implements programs that promote ecological farming and invests in research for the protection of the indigenous products.
