The main difficulties to be handled during the formation and in the administration of the solidarity groups
The main difficulty encountered during the formation and the management of a solidarity group is the too small number of activists and volunteers, of people interested in joining the group, although the formation of the group would respond to their problems and desires. Therefore, it is very important to find the proper way to motivate as many people as possible to include actively in the work of the group, so that the same members would not always do work.
The coordination of the production on the one hand and the wishes of consumers on the other hand, requires a long time. It should also be spent a lot of patience and one must work very hard to start the production of deficit products.
We must mention that in Croatia the EPGs are not regulated by law, they are mostly spontaneous organizations, sometimes even illegal, because sales are organized on the street. The Tax law, which came into force in recent years, has further complicated the story: all sellers of products are obliged to issue fiscal receipts for all sales under their responsibility, even if off-site and even if the sell take place on the markets, which is an additional, often unsustainable, expense for small producers.
A problem often encountered on the territory of Istria and Croatia in general, is the hostility of the producers to unite and form associations and consortia. Hoping that this is not to be reflected in the formation of solidarity group in Verteneglio, we must note the presence of certain skepticism toward any form of association of producers and / or citizens.
The movement of solidarity groups is a long-term project, having as ultimate goal the start of production and the creation of benefit in the local community, the purposes for which it is worth fighting and try to overcome any obstacles.
