Sam Houston Race Park at 7575 North Sam
Houston Parkway West is Houston’s home for
horse racing. In addition to live thoroughbred
races, the park, which can accommodate up to
30,000 people, also hosts concerts and novelty
events like weiner dog and ostrich races (sepa-
rately). In fact, there are camel and ostrich races
coming up on March 2 and 3. Enjoy dinner in the
Winner’s Circle Restaurant, Houston’s largest din-
ing establishment featuring seating for more than
800 guests in view of the finish line. You can also
enjoy 50-cent beer every Friday from 6–9pm. For
