LEVY PARK BLOOMS AGAIN On February 25 , the LEVY PARK CONSERVANCY celebrated the grand re-opening of Levy Park , a six-acre City of Houston park in the Upper Kirby District of Houston . The newly re-imagined , state-of-the-art civic jewel features : a performance pavilion and mini-amphitheater for kids ’ performances ; a 17,500sf event lawn that can accommodate up to 3,000 visitors for bands , movie screenings and symphonic orchestras ; a 22,000sf activity lawn that includes a putting green and space for yoga , tai chi , fitness boot camp , petanque , badminton , fitness classes , picnicking and astronomy ; a 24,000sf play area for kids and families ; and 27 community garden beds for volunteer cultivations of edible plants and flowers . Coming in the near future : a beer garden , food kiosks , a restaurant and park-wide free Wi-Fi . Projects like this one demonstrate once again that Houston has the finest public-private park system in the country .

ART IN THE PARK Over 300 artists from around the country and 19 different disciplines will showcase their art at BAYOU CITY ART FESTIVAL MEMORIAL PARK on Friday – Sunday , March 24 – 26 . As the nation ’ s premier outdoor fine art event , the three-day festival will provide guests with the opportunity to personally meet artists , view original works and purchase world-class art . Bayou City Art Festival , produced by the Art Colony Association , Inc . ( ACA ), has provided a venue for more than 20,000 artists to showcase their artwork to thousands of art lovers from all over the world . The festival will benefit six local nonprofit partners and feature music , local food vendors , beverages , entertainment , a Children ’ s Creative Zone and much more .
