MAKING THE GRADE
H-E-B has announced the Houston-area winners of the statewide
16th annual H-E-B EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION AWARDS,
personally handed out by Charles E. Butt, Chariman and CEO.
Fort Bend ISD took home the $25,000 winning public school
board cash prize. In addition to Fort Bend‘s public school
board win, H-E-B also awarded Richard Embrick of David
Crockett Middle School (Fort Bend ISD) $5,000 for himself
and a $5,000 grant for his school in the Rising Star Secondary
category.
Jamie Flint, another Houston-area teacher from Spring Woods
High School (Spring Branch ISD) was awarded $10,000 in
cash for herself and a $10,000 grant for her school in the
Leadership Secondary category. Congrats to our star educators!

OCA-GREATER HOUSTON is hosting the 13th Annual Houston Asian American & Pacific Islander Film Festival (HAAPI
Fest) over the course of two consecutive weekends. The five-day event will span from June 1 through 3 and June 9
through 10 and is kicking off at Asia Society Texas Center. As always, the festival will be close with the captivating Arts
Night on June 10. HAAPI Fest is continuing its grand tradition of being a celebration of art, film and music that the Asian
American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) community proudly shares each year with the city of Houston.
