The bright lights from the refineries in East Harris County not only
illuminate that area but virtually stretch around the world. With
ExxonMobil in over 50 countries from Angola to Vietnam; Shell
in over 70 countries and with around 94,000 employees;
Chevron with 64,700 employees and about 74% of its production outside the U.S.; Marathon represented in Africa, Europe,
the Mid East, as well as North America; LyondellBasell locations
in 19 countries; the 16 refineries and about 7,000 retail stores
of Valero; and the worldwide presence of Petrobras, founded in
Brazil and reaching even to Pasadena, TX— the Greater
Houston Area powers the world.
