STYLE + LEISURE THE WEBSTER Last month Miami’s coolest boutique, The Webster, quietly opened its doors in what used to be the paid parking across from Cheesecake Factory in The Galleria. Owner, buyer, visionary and muse herself, LAURE HERIARD DUBREUIL, is as unpretentious and accessible as her stores – which is a mouthful considering she’s managed to establish relationships with Chanel, Dior and other top labels to carry their pieces. “I am super-, super-, superexcited! So very happy,” Laure tells me, and it’s hard not to be affected by her sheer excitement. The 5,000sf Houston “jewel box” is modeled after its siblings in Miami’s Bal Harbour and the original in Miami Beach housed in a historical Art Deco building which was once the Webster Hotel. The multi-brand boutique is Laure’s personal perspective on art and fashion brought to life. A variety of vignettes mix happily within the gorgeous space. Various tropical-inspired wallpapers – a nod to Miami – are the backdrops to antique brass racks holding Laure’s hand-picked selections from the season. Blush-colored wool carpets with inlaid Rosos Levanto marble (a pinkish marble) all add a tropical, relaxed vibe to the boutique. At the entrance is a work by Houstonian artist Max Snow, and “this piece is from Eric Young, from my husband; we are super-, super-happy and he made it specially for the store,” Laure shares about a painting near a cheerful selection of Sophia Webster shoes. The men’s side has its own area with its own armoire dressing area. The Webster truly is a one-of-a-kind shopping experience and a gem in the retail market. Exclusive pieces include an Elder Statesman plush bull, an Edie Parker clutch and Nektar de Stagni jewelry. Photography by Jenn Duncan 58 L O C A L | february 16
