One Woman Show | Anna Deavere Smith Comes to Baylor
On January 17, Baylor College of Medicine’s Center for Medical Ethics and
Health Policy will welcome Anna Deavere Smith for a special presentation of her
one-woman performance called "Let Me Down Easy," a docudrama examining the
body as it relates to health and human existence. The show will take place in the
Cullen Theater at the Wortham Center.
The performance will engage the community in a new way, opening the discussion
about mortality and the ethical issues surrounding the difficult decisions we all face.
“Let Me Down Easy” is told through verbatim excerpts from real-life interviews, the
unique voices coming together to tell a stunning story of the vulnerability of the
body, the resilience of the human spirit and the increasing costs of healthcare.
This presentation of "Let Me Down Easy" will be one of the largest community outreach events the Center has produced. Through her performance, Deavere Smith
creates a multifaceted one-act play full of heart, humor and heroism with which
guests of all backgrounds and ages can identify.
