We’re well into NO-MERCY NOVEMBER now, as the faint jingle of Christmas bells approaches menacingly, and it truly has been a wild first
term in the Liverpool Medical Students Society. I intend to run your through some important info and updates for the Society we all know
and love, a quick review of the AMAZING events we’ve had so far, and a small taster for events we have forthcoming!!
Its been a huge few months in the LMSS, as you know going from strength to strength as a fully independent registered charity in its own
right, but as you may not know we now find our home at the lovely Liverpool Medical Institution on Mount Pleasant. I urge you all to go
and sign up for student memberships there! They have a cute lil’ library there perfect for work when the others are jam-packed, as well as
the location of the LMI, handily close to the Font (cheap cocktails anyone?!).
In other society matters, we have a brand spanking new website on the way, an all new alumni network too, and we are currently in the
process of room-booking for weekly LMSS finals revision lectures as well as the planning of your revision weekends closer to exams.
We’ve also teamed up with FIESTA BOMBARDA, to bring you an all new event: LMSS FESTIVE FIESTA which is unlike anything we’ve
run before...... But more on that later on.....
The LMI held our Freshers’ Faire this year, and what a Freshers’ Faire it was!! During which, 200 keen freshers joined our ranks to become
members of one of the oldest and most active medical students societies in the country, signing up for a bumper sellout BUS TOUR!!!! You
know the deal, 3 buses full of excitement, a lovely little tour round Liverpool, and a banging night all round. Followed by a Raztacular Mentor
Mentee a week later, packing out Val’s gaff full to the rafters (of the basement). The Freshers have been especially keen and friendly this
year, so guys.... KEEP IT UP, and come and introduce yourselves to us all if you haven’t already, Don’t Be Shy!!!
The 1st Ordinary meeting followed shortly thereafter (ooo good essay word there), venturing for our first time into LEAF on Bold Street,
hosting the first of many of our rebranded LMSS Comedy Nights with the wonderful Adam Rowe who put the 180 ish strong audience in
stiches faster than even the most skilled surgeon. Adam was opened for by Kieran and Joe, returning to the LMSS with their hilarious musical
stylings and audience singalongs. A Great night, and a great social afterwards courtesy of our Social Secs.
