Cabinets Find a New Home

sco Technologies (Pty) Ltd was
awarded a tender through the
University of Pretoria for the installation of 94 fume cabinets as part of an
upgrade of the Chemistry Department.
The project runs over a 10-month
period. Esco customised the popular
Frontier Duo model to offer an auxiliary
air module, full stainless steel 316 finishes and distillation grids. Esco Fume
Hoods are certified to comply with
the stringent international standards

including ANSI-ASHRAE 110 -1995.
Leading edge computational fluid
dynamics software is used to visualise
and analyse the airflow pattern in the
ducted cabinet, producing an optimum
product with effective airflow design.

that it has acquired its own
premises in Westville Durban.
The Durban branch has experienced
fantastic growth over the last few
years and in order to keep pace with
the growing market, the company has
decided to invest in bigger premises.
In addition to housing fully-equipped
service and laboratory facilities, the
premises has a fully equipped conference
room for seminars and customised
training courses. The building is ideally
located in the Westway Office Park,
opposite the Pavilion shopping centre,
which allows both staff and customers
quick access to the building.
Metrohm would like to thanks their
customers for their loyal support over
the years, which has made this acquisition possible.
They also look forward to welcoming
their customers to the official opening

More Coal in Wirsam’s Stocking

hangsha Kaiyuan Instruments Co.
Ltd (CKIC) and Rigaku hosted a
one-day Coal Seminar in association
with Wirsam Scientific & Precision
Equipment (Pty) Ltd on 15 May 2014 at
the Protea Hotel Highveld in Witbank.
More than 34 delegates from various
coal sectors participated in this seminar.
This seminar was unique and a first of its
kind in SA. Mrs Vicky Wagner, General
Manager of Wirsam Scientific, presided
over the programme and said, “This
seminar will help the coal industry meet
the emerging challenges.”
The first part of the seminar, hosted
by Susan Wang Overseas Director of
CKIC, brought the delegates up-to-date
on some of the latest developments in
coal quality control. The second part was
hosted by Laura Oelofse, the Global XRF
Product Marketing Manager for Rigaku,
and addressed the aspects of coal
analysis for P and S on XRF. Justin Chen
the Account Manager for CKIC discussed
sampling preparation and analysis.
The seminar was a great success and
updated the coal industry with the latest
developments in coal quality control. ⚛
