Sectioning temperature is critical in generating a good quality fresh frozen tissue section. The CryoStar NX50 is an innovative cryostat incorporating knife cooling and adjustable specimen head temperature for rapid adjustment to meet the temperature requirements for each specimen. “Pathologists rely on quick turnaround time and excellent sectioning quality from their cryostat,” says Richard Vernon, Commercial Product Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “Our CryoStar NX50 gives them the functionality and control to achieve diagnosis rapidly.” The cryostat is designed with an LCD touchscreen interface operation that is streamlined for the user. By utilising icon driven software, parameters can be changed simply and quickly to meet the demands of different specimen types. The NX 50 also offers optional motorised height adjustment, allowing the operator to customise the position of the cryochamber for either seated or standing operation. An optional Cold D disinfection Labotec Tel: 011 315 5434 Fax: 011 315-5882 Email: [email protected] system allows for rapid decontami nation of the cryochamber, while protecting the operator from exposure to biological pathogens with minimal downtime. Another feature is the variablepressure vacutome that delivers wrinkle-free sections by gently stretching the specimen during cutting. ⚛ Antibodies M erck Millipore now offers an extensive and focused portfolio of a number of antibodies and immunoassays. With the expertise of Upstate® and Chemicon®, Merck Millipore provides validated antibodies with breadth and depth in the major research areas of: • Neuroscience • Epigenetics • Cell signaling • Cancer • Cell structure. All of which are backed by excellent service and support. Monitor epigenetic changes, such as histone modification, DNA methylation or chromatin and nucleosome remodelling. Explore the development, differentiation and degeneration stages with antibodies and assays for multiple cell, tissue and organ types. Decipher the complexity of extracellular, cytoplasmic or nuclear signals with antibodies, immunoassays and single cell analysis. Investigate the relationships between cancer, apoptosis, autophagy, angio genesis, metastasis and cell invasion. Link the structural features to mechanistic functions of a cell leveraging unique cell adhesion, cytoskeleton and ECM assays. Merck Millipore’s highly validated antibodies are guaranteed for quality performance. In addition to the validation, all of their antibodies are backed w ith a best-in-industr y technica l service team dedicated to their anti bodies customers. With the combined expertise of Chemicon and Upstate, they offer the most comprehensive portfolio of antibodies and assays across the life sciences industry. This company specialises in the development of antibodies for immunoassays, especially sandwich immunoassays. In addition, the company supplies number of matched antibody pairs that enable highly sensitive and specific analysis. The antibodies are also available as separate reagents for use in numerous applications. The product range includes monoclonal antibodies for human, non-human primate, mouse and veterinary research. Mabtech’s antibodies are suitable for many applications. The major application areas are ELISA, ELISpot, cell stimulation, neutralisation, western blot, cell staining and flow cytometry. Antibodies are available in purified form or conjugated to biotin, enzyme or f luorophore. In sandwich assays, such as ELISA and ELISpot, purified antibodies are suitable for capture. The  corresponding biotinylated antibodies are suitable for detection. Antibodies are supplied in PBS with 0.02% sodium azide for immunoassays. The antibodies to be used in cell stimulation or neutralisation are supplied free of preservatives. Enzyme-conjugated antibodies, which enable quicker assays, are available for some analytes. A limited number of monoclonal antibodies conjugated to FITC or Rhodamine for cell staining and flow cytometry are also available. The majority of the antibodies are supplied in standard quantities of 250µg or 1mg. Larger quantities are available on request. ⚛ Microsep Contact: Frances Renwick Tel: 011-553‑2300 Email: [email protected]
