Shimadzu SA (Pty) Limited (SSA)
was established on the 1st of
October 2011 in SA.
They offer direct sales, service
and support to Shimadzu
customers in the Southern African
region for all of their analytical and
measuring, including instruments
for chromatography, massspectrometry, spectroscopy,
elemental analysis, surface
analysis, materials testing,
life science research, weight
measurement, thermal analysis,
particle size analysis and TOC
analysis, to mention a few.
2013 has been a very exciting
year for Shimadzu SA, since their
office unveiling in February 2012,
specifically in the training and
environmental analysis technology
sectors.

New Shimadzu training
centre at the University of
Johannesburg
In their efforts to showcase
the latest technological
breakthroughs in analytical
measurement, chromatography,
mass spectrometry, spectroscopy,
elemental analysis and TOC
analysis, Shimadzu SA are now
in the process of setting up a
training facility at the University
of Johannesburg. This will allow
students to familiarise themselves
with world-leading equipment
through hands-on research and
analysis training designed to assist
students in finding new ways to get
results faster and more accurately.

As an added measure to
demonstrate how durable and

Umoya Laboratory
Extraction Technologies
Qualified staff being involved and specialised
in microbiology, serology, chemistry and
haematology fields, contribute to the
understanding of all possible fields that need
to be covered. From small beginnings as a
supplier of extraction units, the company
has developed into designing and planning
solutions for various fields of extraction.
Umoya have an in-house facility
for the design and layout of setting up
new laboratories. They specialise in the
fabrication of polypropylene fume extraction
cabinets.
The company’s main aim is to protect
the environment, atmosphere and operator
by extracting airborne contaminants and
hazardous and toxic fumes from the working
environment. This is especially applicable
in the laboratory (industrial, medical,
food and beverage, mining and mortuary)
environment.
Umoya strives towards excellence in
laboratory ergonomics. They provide their
clients with specialised and individual advice.
They also have their own, South African
