Trim the starting newel using the dimension obtained in step 41 . Fasten the newel using the hardware and instructions provided . Drill a pilot hole in the tread at the starting newel centerpoint to receive the threaded insert . Drill a pilot hole in the newel for the hanger bolt .

Trim the intermediate landing newel using the dimension obtained in step 43 . Review step 107-A for newel notching instructions . Fasten the newel by running LJ-3078 Rail and Post Fasteners through the face of the newel into the stringers .
