Hoover, Staff Writer “There’s no great loss without some small gain.” These words passage from Chapter 9: Blackbirds in the sixth book of the Little House series, Beyond Little House: Little Town on the Prairie, summarizes Laura Ingalls Wilder’s life. Wilder experienced through extraordinary loss in her life. But she received and gave more than a small gain when she published the first Little House book at the age of 65. The Little House series of novels chronicles Wilder’s family’s life as a memoir for the family and historical posterity.
