Deficiency and Toxicity There are TWO reasons why cells malfunction: 1. 2. They are NOT getting enough of what they need to function properly (nutritional deficiency). They are being EXPOSED to something that is interfering with their normal function (toxicity). Where Disease Comes From Despite all the different names and endless complexities we attribute to it, disease is quite simple. IN FACT, all diseases have a common cause: from the common cold to diabetes, autoimmune disorders, heart attack, stroke, and even cancer. Disease is simply a manifestation of malfunctioning cells. Cell malfunction occurs because of the food we eat: high in calories and toxins and deficient in nutrients. We create a perfect breeding ground for sickness and chronic disease. Essentially, we have rendered our bodies incapable of accomplishing their built-in healing functions. Are You Fighting Disease? Toxic food is any food that is manufactured with additives, preservatives, and artificial ingredients; foods that sludge the digestive tract, depress the immune system, excite the nervous system, and in general remove the possibility of health—in other words, the standard diet most people consume: 2. 1. ANIMAL PRODUCTS – meat and fish, eggs, processed meats, and dairy products 2. WHITE FLOUR PRODUCTS – pasta, breads, breakfast cereals, cakes, etc. 3. REFINED WHITE SUGAR PRODUCTS – candy bars, soda pop, packaged snacks, and other sweets 4. REFINED SALT – table salt and any packaged food containing salt 3. 4. Don’t worry. Hallelujah Blue Salad • 1 handful of spinach • 1/4 red bell pepper sliced julienne (matchstick size) • 1/3 cup blueberries • 1 handful of Romaine lettuce • 1/4 cup shredded carrots • 2 Tbsp chopped walnuts Combine all vegetable ingredients and top with blueberries and walnuts. Blueberry Vinaigrette • 1 cup blueberries • 2/3 cup extra virgin olive oil • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar • 2 Tbsp water • 2 Tbsp honey • 1/2 tsp unrefined sea salt Combine all in a food processor until smooth.
