Robert Perry
2015 SLIM & SASSY COMPETITION GRAND PRIZE WINNER
As a father of five, Robert didn’t want to let anything hold him
back from a long, healthy life. With the support of his family and
a tenacious willpower to succeed, Robert pushed himself past
his original goal and lost a total of 64 lbs.* and 46 in. during
the 2015 Slim & Sassy Competition.
The Last Straw
Before the Slim & Sassy Competition,
Robert knew that he needed to make
some changes in his life. He says, “I wanted
to be healthier so that I could be around
longer for my five daughters. My father
died at age 63 when I was 15, and my wife’s
father also passed away when she was
young. My girls never knew their grand
fathers, and I don’t want the next gener

to be able to see my girls grow up, get
married, and have children of their own.”

was, it took a family photo to spur him
into action. He says, “I hated the way I
looked. We took family pictures last
Christmas, and I took up half the picture.
That was the last straw. I looked terrible.”
When the opportunity came, Robert
quickly took the chance to compete in
the Slim & Sassy Challenge.

the start. He says, “They went without
a lot of treats to help me stay away
from them. My wife loves to bake bread,
and not having it for three months was
probably the hardest commitment I had
to keep.” He also told his co-workers
about his goals, and they either reminded
him or tempted him on a regular basis.
Robert also missed eating socially, but
overcame these thoughts by focusing
on his purpose.
Because he pushed himself every day,
Robert’s momentum grew and his
willpower improved over time. He began
to see progress in big ways. He says,
“I increased my focus each day until the
