RENEWED HOPE IN KENYA
Veronica is a young widow with five children living in Kenya.
She used to live a life of luxury, when her husband was alive. He
worked for a company that paid for their home and gave him a
generous salary. This enabled the couple to send their children
to school and provide them with clean water, food, and clothing.
After her husband’s death, however, Veronica and her children’s
lives changed dramatically. They were forced to move out of
their home, and school was quickly given up when paying for
food and shelter became more important. Veronica did all she
could to provide for her family. At first, she sold ropes to local
merchants who took pity on her in her time of need. Eventually,
though, the shop owners could no longer buy her ropes and
Veronica was forced into a profession that robbed her of her
dignity in order to feed her five children.
