Silvia Malik ’ s maternal instinct to find natural health solutions for her child brought her to dōTERRA six years ago , in Romania . Now she is a Presidential Diamond Leader , working alongside her husband Sergiu . But how did she get to the position she is in today ?
I don ’ t do business !
Six years ago Silvia said to her Enroller : “ I ’ m not interested in business ! I don ’ t do business ; I just love and share dōTERRA with others !” Her enthusiasm truly was attracting many others who wanted to do just what she was doing .
At the time , Silvia and Sergiu ran a thriving photography business , which satisfied their professional and financial needs , and their passion for world travel . But involvement with dōTERRA has brought so much more than a good business : the chance to evolve to an upper level by learning , understanding and being able to live their deeply-held beliefs and values . “ For me , my biggest `why` has always been to reach the hearts of people . Working with dōTERRA has given me the opportunity to help myself and to help people to stand up to life ’ s challenges much more easily .”
Silvia started her dōTERRA business against the backdrop of a challenged and changing society in Romania ; after the 1989 Revolution , many Romanians had become increasingly sceptical about various aspects of everyday life , including shelf-bought health remedies , so they were increasingly keen to find alternative solutions . This post-revolutionary culture was also fuelling scepticism towards the network marketing business model in general , particularly with the negativity around businesses already existing at that time in Romania and beyond .
“ One thing that held me back for a long time was the negative culture around multi-level marketing ( MLM ). I was not mentioning anything about the business opportunity that essential oils offer and I regret enormously that I didn ’ t educate myself more in this direction earlier . You may come across an anti-MLM culture , but I recommend that you educate yourself about the network-marketing companies with the opportunities to build quality relationships . This is key to your personal development within dōTERRA and , by extension , in supporting those around you .”

Despite her initial concerns , Silvia was establishing a strong dōTERRA business . In nine months , she became a Diamond Leader with a structure of 400 people . And despite her early misgivings , Silvia has gone on to support many to become successful leaders themselves . Her deep love for dōTERRA is driven by the diversity of the people she works with and the way each of them resonates with a particular group . In her team , there are leaders who work one-on-one with people living in rural areas . There are leaders who work online , as Silvia does . And there is the TikTok generation of emerging leaders . This generation is the legacy of dōTERRA .
