Most of my inspiration is drawn from God, who has given me the strength to do what I do. What advice would you give to someone who wants to swim competitively? My biggest advice to anyone who wants to swim competitively is to commit to the long game. Swimming takes years to get comfortable with. It usually takes a couple years to develop a feel for the water and to find your stroke. Just like in every sport, it’s important to be coachable and to trust the process. How did you hear about dōTERRA? I heard about dōTERRA initially from my sister Bethany. She encouraged me to use oils to better my health and well being. I became a true believer when I experienced a health setback after my NCAA championship meet. She gave me an essential oil mix every few hours in addition to consistent applications of dōTERRA On Guard ® . Oils have played a huge role in keeping me healthy since that time. MICHAEL CHADWICK Michael Chadwick has been training for the US National Swimming Championship for the past year as a professional swimmer. He has trained and competed throughout college with a rigorous training schedule to prepare for this event. Through all of Michael’s hard work he was able to secure a spot on the US National Team for the Pan America games. 28 / FALL 2018 LIVING MAGAZINE Do you have a routine to get ready for a swim meet? Tell us about your training routine. My training routine consists of nine swim workouts a week. In addition to that, I also lift three times a week. Since I specialize in the 50 and 100 free, my workouts are usually very speed oriented, especially the closer I get to my major competition. Where do you draw your inspiration from? My inspiration is drawn from a few different places. I draw my inspiration from my wife and family and the constant What are your favorite dōTERRA product s and how do you normally use them? My favorite dōTERRA products are Lemongrass, Wintergreen, Copaiba, and Douglas Fir oils. I apply them every single night to any areas I have discomfort. I have found that this combination of oils has helped decrease any inflammation that has developed in my joints or muscles from exercise. I often struggle with seasonal changes, so I have found that the Tri-ease pills have helped. What do you want to be known for or what is your biggest accomplishment? I want to be known as a fighter—someone who never gave up on his dreams and will always stand up for what he believes in. My biggest accomplishment has been, first making the USA National Team. Making the team for the longest time seemed like a dream far out of reach. It was the starting point in my career and I will forever cherish it as my breakout in the sport. From here I can only look forward to what will end up being the biggest accomplishment of my career. Outside of swimming, my biggest accomplishment is marrying the love of my life, Cassi. We were married December 31, 2017, and have enjoyed every moment of growth and maturity. doterra.com / 29
