Plants contain compounds within the
roots, flowers, seeds, and bark that can’t
be seen with the naked eye. These
compounds, known as essential oils,
are highly concentrated, making them
extremely potent. Essential oils give a
plant its aroma, protect it from harsh
environmental conditions and insects,
and even play a part in pollination. Through a global botanical network, dōTERRA
ensures that only the best seeds, soil, equipment,
and growing conditions are used in the oil produc-
tion process. Partnering with growers and distillers
who have a deep understanding of native plants,
local climate, weather patterns, harvesting, and
distillation temperatures, times, and pressures,
allows dōTERRA to produce pure, potent, and
precious essential oils.
THE HISTORY OF
ESSENTIAL OILS
While some view essential oils as a new trend, the use
of plant extracts and plant-based products is deeply
rooted in traditions of the past. Ancient civilizations
used plants for aromatherapy, personal care, health
practices, beauty treatments, and food preparations.
In addition to the care taken during harvesting and
distillation, dōTERRA sends each batch of essential
oil to state-of-the-art labs to be tested. To guaran-
tee the highest level of quality, dōTERRA has
created the CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic
Grade® testing process. With rigorous criteria, this
standard certifies that dōTERRA oils do not contain
added fillers or harmful contaminants, but are pure,
potent, quality essential oils.
