the surrounding areas.

School Renovation
Tzuncoc
In 2018, the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation ® and CHOICE Humanitarian-Guatemala
began planning the replacement of the current school—a building intended for 34 students and
made of rotting wood, a dirt floor, four small rooms and no restroom—with a new building of six
large classrooms, two sets of restrooms, an office, a kitchen, and a playground. The school will
accommodate 129 students, and construction will begin in 2019.
Bridge Update
Tzuncoc
During heavy rainfall, the children who attended school in the Guatemala community of Tzuncoc
would be forced to miss school due to the potential danger associated with river flooding. In 2018,
the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation and CHOICE Humanitarian-Guatemala built a suspension
bridge across the river, allowing the children to safely cross the river regardless of its water level.

AFTER
Many roofs in the community collapsed due
to heavy ashfall from the volcanic eruptions.
Donations made to the dōTERRA Healing
Hands Foundation were utilized in this project
to repair the roofs on these damaged homes.
The eruptions traumatized children, many
of whom lost family members. Together
with on-the-ground partners and UNICEF,
the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation
supported post-trauma psychological care
for these children.
To address immediate water needs, the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation and on-the-
ground partners in Guatemala funded a temporary mechanical well to provide water for 1,000
families while the Guatemalan government worked to replace the main water pipelines that were
destroyed during the volcanic eruptions.
