Zawadisha | Kenya
Wellness Advocate Mackenzie
Banta has served as a
volunteer for Zawadisha for
three years. Zawadisha
provides small loans that
help finance the livelihoods
of Kenyan women. When
women living in poverty have
access to renewable energy
and water, they experience a
dramatic increase in the quality
of their lives. Money is spent on
children’s school fees instead
of kerosene lamps. Women
use the six hours they would’ve
spent walking to a river for
water or to the forest for fuel
wood instead on income-
generating activities.
Mackenzie helped raise funds,
which were matched by the
dōTERRA Healing Hands
Foundation ® , to purchase
50 water tanks and provide
supplies for education and
training about tree planting,
fruit harvesting, and garden
cultivating. Thanks to
Mackenzie’s efforts, Zawadisha
took their program to a new
area of Kenya.
