In June 2018, Agawo Primary School reached out to the Hearts for Kenya organization, asking for feminine hygiene pads so that girls could go to school. When Wellness Advocate Robin Aleksevitch heard about this, she decided to start a Days for Girls Enterprise under Hearts for Kenya. She envisioned a place where local women could sew reusable feminine hygiene pads and give them to schoolgirls in 20 different schools for free. She partnered with Diamond Brooke Tazbaz to raise $4,115, and then they reached out to the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation ® , which matched their funds. Hearts for Kenya Days for Girls Social Enterprise | Kenya With funding secured, Robin and Brooke traveled to Oyugis, Kenya. They set up a sewing room with four sewing machines and hired 10 seamstresses. Within a week, they had produced 86 reusable pads. They distributed the supplies and taught students, teachers, and parents about women’s health. The seamstresses at the Hearts for Kenya Days for Girls Enterprise continue creating kits. Orders for more kits have come from a nearby orphanage, and kits will be sold to local women. This system provides income for the seamstresses, supports education about feminine health and hygiene, and supplies affordable and efficient hygiene products to women in Oyugis. 56 dōTERRA HEALING HANDS FOUNDATION I ANNUAL REPORT 2019 doterrahealinghands.org 57
