Mindfulness and
authentic living
Being fully aware and letting go of limiting beliefs creates a shift to conscious living.
Mindfulness involves immersing ourselves fully in the present. It requires us to be in a
state of active, open attention not just of ourselves, but of the world around us. When
we are mindful, we observe our thoughts, our feelings from a distance and become
the observer. We are fully aware of our experiences; we tell the truth and trust our
intuition.
To best understand mindfulness, it is beneficial to identify what is happening when
we actually disconnect from ourselves. Have you ever driven to a destination only to
remember that a part of your route was closed off? Maybe there’s a bit of roadwork
going on and despite seeing announcements it simply slipped your mind. After all,
you’ve taken the same drive dozens of times before. Perhaps you are driving your child
to their music lesson and you end up driving to the market instead. In these moments
consider you are on “autopilot”.
