Meet the President Glenys Hunt It is also going to be a year of consolidation, continuing the changes that have been implemented during the past twelve months by Alistair Fletcher. Glenys says “Alistair made a number of changes to procedures and some of the Society’s social events, such as the format of the Annual Dinner, and the introduction of the very popular Real Ale Tasting Evening.” However, where Alistair focussed on some of the City’s larger law firms, Glenys would like to focus on small and medium sized firms. She hopes to be able to visit firms both in Liverpool, and on the Wirral, to discover how Liverpool Law Society can assist them and offer support where it is needed. Clearly it is going to be a very busy year, with the International Festival for Business being held in Liverpool in June and July and Glenys hopes Glenys Hunt of Carpenters Solicitors on the Wirral has now been elected President of Liverpool Law Society Prior to joining the legal profession, Glenys Hunt spent 16 years working in the NHS in the pathology lab of a hospital before entering Liverpool John Moores University to study for a law degree on a part time basis. After the first year Glenys then moved to Lancaster University on a full time basis, completing her study with the LPC at the College of Law, Chester. Glenys trained at J. Keith Park & Co in St Helens and when several months qualified joined Smith & Graham in Durham. However Glenys wanted to return to her home city of Liverpool, and in 1998 joined Lees Lloyd Whitley, where she specialised in clinical negligence and personal injury. Glenys was made a partner and remained with the firm until its closure in 2009. For a short time she worked at Thomsons, and in 2010 joined Carpenters where she has a small clinical negligence and serious personal injury caseload, but is mainly oocupied in her r
