5.5.6 Solid Waste Collection
AN PATHWAY IMPROVEMENT
Project Description Project Description
The aim of this intervention is to improve the
street section of the sidewalks adjacent to
al-Amrikiyya mall and the proposed plaza.
This area is mainly an extension for outdoor ca-
fes, however it requires organization with the
pedestrian circulation. The aim of this intervention is to implement a
solid waste collection system by providing two
main collection points.
There are two proposed locations; one at the
vacant land adjacent to Cascade Café and one
on the Central Axis Road adjacent to al-Amrik-
iyya mall.
This proposal s dependent on the required de-
tailed SWM study.
Proposed Activities
• Design the street section according to
acceptable standards and international
guidelines.
• Demarcation of the different functions of
public open space activities, including shop
extensions, street vending stalls, pedestri-
an paths, and street furniture.
• Improve and maximize pedestrian circula-
tion.
• Increase street lighting and vegetation.
• Use of low cost materials to avoid increas-
ing the land value.
Proposed Activities
• Providing two main containers for garbage
disposal according to a detailed study of
the required capacity.
• Proposing the time and route of garbage
collection.
