1.3.2 SOCIAL SURVEY
In order to profile stakeholder problems and
needs for the production of an appropriate in-
tervention strategy, structured interviews with
the following governmental and non-govern-
mental stakeholders: 20 passersby, 10 street
vendors, 26 shop owners and/or keepers, and
three mall managers. Each interview took on
average between half an hour to forty-five
minutes be completed. Additional interviews
were also conducted targeting specific topics
concerning economic and social aspects. Seven
interviews were conducted with MSMEs repre-
senting various businesses in AAA. Due to the
qualitative nature of the assessment the survey
was not performed on a representative sample
of AAA stakeholders. It is important to note
that not all respondents answered all proposed
questions in the questionnaire for individual
reasons.
Finally, two semi structured meetings with City
Authority members were conducted in order to
outline current situations and future strategies
in which interventions were made and pro-
posed intervention strategies agreed on.

1.3.3 INTERVIEWS WITH GOV-
ERNMENTAL AND NON–GOVERN-
MENTAL STAKEHOLDERS
The purpose of this step is the identification of
current and future physical intervention and
upgrading plans by different governmental and
non-governmental organizations within the
study area. This step helps incorporate the pro-
posed physical interventions within existing or
future intervention plans either by the govern-
ment or any other entity in the selected sites in
order to avoid potential conflicts. It also helps
engaging local officials in the decision-mak-
ing process, benefiting from existing resourc-
es, building synergies with existing partners.
Therefore, interviews were conducted with the
project’s governmental and non-governmental
stakeholders to fully understand the scope of
the project, in order to establish a common un-
derstanding of the project framework.
