The upgrading strategy of the AAA is perceived
as an integrated and comprehensive process.
It is based upon building on the strengths and
opportunities in the area and mitigating on the
threats and weaknesses. This process is based
on the following strategic objectives:
Proposing physical and non-physical inter-
ventions to build leadership and dialogue
between the occupants of the AAA and the
CA.
Proposing physical interventions that adopt
high quality standards and uses low cost
materials to avoid possible gentrification.
Relieving the existing pressures through uti-
lizing the potential assets in the AAA, which
include:
• Incorporating the green areas adjacent to
the 6th of October University within the
proposed physical interventions;
• Maximizing the pedestrian surface area;
• Proposing linkages with al-Hossary Park.
Enhancing the pedestrian experience
through improving the paving condition of
streets and sidewalks, maximizing the pe-
destrian surface area, and creating women
friendly spaces.
