Proposing physical interventions that adopt high quality standards and uses low cost materials to avoid possible gentrification. Relieving the existing pressures through uti- lizing the potential assets in the AAA, which include: • Incorporating the green areas adjacent to the 6th of October University within the proposed physical interventions; • Maximizing the pedestrian surface area; • Proposing linkages with al-Hossary Park. Enhancing the pedestrian experience through improving the paving condition of streets and sidewalks, maximizing the pe- destrian surface area, and creating women friendly spaces. 141 | INTERVENTION PROPOSALS PROPOSED STRATEGIES FOR INTERVENTION Redistributing the activities throughout the AAA by re-opening malls underground ga- rage facilities and relocating the street ven- dors in underutilized spaces.
