BRISBANE AIRPORT UPDATE
Taxi Short Fare upgrade At Brisbane Airport
Brisbane Airport is proud to announce the arrival of a Taxi Short Fare Return System which was installed at both the International and Domestic general taxi ranks late last year. This project has been very successful with over 100 drivers taking advantage of the system daily.
The Taxi Working Group are now investigating an upgrade that will integrate the system into the MT Data information allowing the system to work on distance, removing the time based element of the system. This means instead of having 15 minutes to arrive back at the CPA we will be able to configure a distance which will remove any pressure to speed back to the CPA. This upgrade will also help identify actual short fares, preventing the occasions where our cameras miss your taxi plate.
This new system is state of art technology and will provide a truly first class system for all drivers at Brisbane Airport. The Working Group which includes a representative from Black and White, Yellow Cabs, Taxi Council and The Taxi Drivers association will be working through the details of this new system and we hope to have the system in place before Christmas.
Fees for 2014/15 Fiscal Year
Brisbane Airport continues to invest in transport upgrades at the Domestic and International Terminals. Streamlining taxi and ground transport operations with electronic tolling (e-tag) access systems, dedicated taxi facilities and a short fare return system.
Brisbane Airport’s access fee review occurs on 1 July of each year. The new prices reflect the anticipated 2014/15 CPI increase( www.abs.gov.au) The new fee for the International and Domestic general taxi rank will be $3.40 and will be in place as from 1st July 2014.
