Jam with the Professors: A New Fundraiser at CCOM

Students at CCOM have always admired the skills of Dr. Mark McKeigue and Dr. Kurt Heinking in clinical settings and the OMM lab. Little did we know, their talents extend far beyond the scope of medicine. CCOM SAAO’s most recent fundraiser was a rock concert called Jam with the Professors. Drs. Heinking and McKeigue and their band Another Time & Place delighted a crowd of students, faculty, and community members with classic hits from the 60’s and 70’s and a few holiday favorites. The event also included food, drink, and dancing making it a huge success. We were able to raise almost $1000 to support student trips to AAO Convocation in Colorado Springs this March.
Dr. McKeigue starred as a guitarist and vocalist. Having been in other bands before, he was a seasoned veteran when it came to playing in front of an audience. Dr. Heinking, however is more of a newcomer to playing in public with only a few months of guitar practice under his belt. His maiden voyage into music performance was a huge hit as he played the guitar like a pro. Second year CCOM student Miranda Kiefer made a dazzling cameo appearance for songs like “This Christmas” and “Twist and Shout,” enchanting the whole audience with her melodic vocals.
