SECRETARY-TREASURER -- MEAGAN VERBILLION

Hello SAAO members! Can you believe Convocation is just around

the corner! There are a lot of amazing events and lectures this

year and I hope that you take the time to participate in

EVERYTHING! BUT.....most importantly (to me at least) I hope

you all attend AUCTION! and PLEASE DONATE GOOD/QUALITY

ITEMS! I cannot stress to you enough how important auction is...

it is THE fundraiser for the SAAO! Did you like Convo when we

had free lunches (I did) ? Do you like the lectures? Do you like the

student social and stars and stripes events? How about A. Hollis

Wolf? The more money we raise at auction the better all of those events can be at the next convocation! So look through your closets and talk to your advisors about donations for the auction! Every little bit helps! Auction will be Friday, March 21st at 5:30pm! Another event that I think is worth mentioning is the 4th year student panel....this year SAAO has put together a board of 4th year students to help guide you through ERAS, Residency Auditions, clinical rotations, etc. I will be on the panal as a military student! So if you are a fellow military member and have questions about active duty, the application process, etc! come and talk to me! I cant wait to see you all there! :)

NAT'L COORDINATOR -- RANDY DAVIS

Stasis is not functionality. This is basically my understanding of

Osteopathy filtered to four words, yet it offers so much more

beyond mere structure. We do not grow as people if we do not

allow ourselves to change. We do not learn if we do not engage

the world (or wards…), around us.

I missed a key point in my earlier Still Point submission. The article dealt

largely with what to pack for your away rotations. I will knowingly

engage how cheesy this may sound – but do not forget to bring yourself.

Sometimes those moments we grow most are when we separate

ourselves from our familiar surroundings and plunge into a world of

unknown. Other times, however, we fail to realize that we were already who we thought we were before we set out on our adventure until we get home and settle back into our surroundings. I joined SAAO five years ago, and now I leave with

many more friends and a greater appreciation for what individualscan accomplish when we work together. I also leave with a greater appreciation for the ability to recognize continuity – what is change if it does not have tracks to move forward upon? Change is often welcomed because it is associated with growth, but it is the continuity that is truly responsible for development.

I am thankful for the time that I have been fortunate enough to spend within each and every position in SAAO, and I am excited to see where future years can carry the organization! Thank you for another wonderful opportunity to work with your council, and, as we approach the end of our year as officers, remember that the steps we take today can be the source that guides tomorrow..
