A Solo self- discovery is a must

for your Bucket List

“Women need real moments of solitude and self-reflection to balance out how much of ourselves we give away.”

– Barbara De Angelis

very article or posts on solo travelling emphasizes the need to plan.

Unfortunately, I did not go by the rule book. I picked a destination suggested by my colleague, booked my air ticket, selected a hostel, packed my bag and took off to my first ever solo trip- all in a day. My family, like any other Indian family comes from a conservative background and was uncomfortable with the idea of letting their young daughter wander around in a foreign country.

I have always wanted to travel alone, meet new people, listen to travel stories and get lost in the city’s culture. I made up few harmless lies and took off to a land rich in history, culture and cuisine – ROME.

Okay girls, I know I went all out like a superwoman and planned out a spontaneous trip. No matter what you do, make sure you keep your guards up and go by your instincts.

From enriching historic sites to sprawling nightlife, from mouth-watering oven baked pizza corners to quirky coffee shops, this eternal city has something for all.

One can’t go wrong with Rome and that is exactly why I picked a destination as unique as Rome.

Rome is best explored by foot. But if you run out of your steam, hop on to Rome’s tramps or buses or metros. Italy has a well-planned transportation system with easy accessibility.

Solo traveling gives you the freedom to do what you want at your own pace. If you are a history buff, you can get drunk in Rome’s history. If you are a food lover, tangled lanes of Rome are filled with plenty of cafes and restaurants to fill up your culinary cravings. I decided to mix a bit of everything. Most importantly I took time out to enjoy small pleasures in life. Aromatic coffees and creamy gelatos are at every corner of Rome and it’s a must.
