Appearances can be deceiving

Chicago, a city known for its beautiful places, the most visited place by many Americans for their annual vacation, this place was known to be one of the safest and quietest cities at that time, until a series of murders changed everything for this city.

In the summer of 1968, the residents of Chicago, Illinois were frightened by the events that occurred, the disappearances of several young people was the reason, but the most frightening thing is that two bodies of young boys between the ages of thirteen and fifteen years old, was found in the river Des Plains, without life with signs of violence, since both bodies showed bruises and cuts. Given these facts, many parents of minors fear for the safety of their children taking preventive measures, while others not so much.

Criminal investigators are doing their best efforts to find the serial killer, taking into account every evidence they find in each victim. A list of alleged suspects is getting longer and it is frightening due to the lack of success in finding the killer responsible for the disappeared victims, while the relatives of the victims fight for the justice of their missing or found dead sons.

During this chaos, a man called John Wayne Gacy, was on his way to a nearby hospital to offer a show to children. He was a local construction business owner, and who even volunteered his time hosting charity fundraisers with a clown troupe dedicated to entertaining children. Gacy was known by the citizens of Chicago for being a kind person, he lived a wonderful life being a father of two beautiful children, one son named Michael and one daughter named Christine, also happily married to Marlynn Myers.

What the residents of the quaint community of Norwood Park did not know is that Pogo the Clown, was harboring a dark secret underneath all that caked on greasepaint. This man wanted to have a clean reputation while satisfying his dark desires with young boys, for then he take out all his anger on his victims, due to the tough childhood he had, since he suffered domestic abuse from his father what led him to bad decisions.

Gacy offered jobs to underage boys and manipulate them to take them to his house, where the murders take place. Gacy’s house was the sepulture of twenty-six victims’ bodies, and it was secret place to the citizens of Illinois.

Lately Gacy behaved in a strange way and became suspicious, so police officers inspected his house, so they found clothes that were not the right size for Gacy. Thereupon police officers saw a small door that lead a hiding place in the basement, as soon as they opened the small door, they felt a smell of putrefaction.

With the hard work of criminologists, they could find the bodies of the missing boys, and Gacy was sentenced to death by lethal injection.

Justice could be achieved for the thirty-three boys but this event marked the city of Chicago.
