How Do I Say This
I don’ t want you to look at me and think you need to tell me I’ m beautiful to make me feel better
I want you to look at me and admire the way I think
The way I’ ll randomly ask you the questions that come to my mind at 4 am when I’ ve drank too much coffee, and watched too much tv, or I’ ve thought about in math class when I was supposed to be paying attention to the lecture
Look at me like I’ m a galaxy of ideas, of never ending questions and unexplainable thoughts
I want you to look at me and realize that my mind and heart are more appealing than my skin
Though I want you to look at me and ask yourself how someone like myself even exist, I don’ t want it to occur only as you watch my hair blow in the wind or as your eyes catch the sight of myself on a Saturday night on my way to a party
I want me to be your unanswered question You don’ t understand me but that’ s ok
I just need you to understand that when you call me beautiful, you’ re talking about my mind, not my flesh, because I want you to love the part of me that will never age, that way you’ ll never stop loving me.
