GLACIAL WATERS
Brightly glinting white
In the frozen ocean waves
Sinking and thrilling.
-NICHOLAS SKELLEY - 8TH
“This poem demonstrates nature’s beauty in the harshest of conditions with an iceberg. Nature, however, hides its
destructive force behind said beauty as with icebergs, waterfalls, and cliffs. All of those forms of nature show splendor
yet all of them can be dangerous if used in the wrong way. In life, danger and destruction hide behind magnificence,
riches, and wonder and can lure just about anyone into the trap. However, hiding terrible things behind true beauty does
not mean there is not beauty; it just means that the beauty is a façade of greatness.”
