Often called everyone’s favorite Christmas movie, who doesn’t root for Ralphie to receive the “official Red Ryder, carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle, with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time” for his Christmas present? Based on the author’s recollections, and drawn from the author’s previous compilations (see below), the novel captures small-town life in Depression-era Indiana and instills the reader with the same sense of nostalgia invoked in the movie.
As with The Grinch, the material in this book will be familiar to anyone who has watched the movie, so it could be another great way to encourage a reluctant reader.
