I am currently working as my mom’s personal assistant for her books. Attending book signings with her has become something that I really enjoy because I am supporting her passion and I have also become fully immersed in another two of my favorite hobbies, reading and writing. I majored in English for my undergraduate degree and have always found reading and writing to be cathartic and therapeutic.I used to read books one after the other. I loved getting lost in another world for a little while. I also enjoyed writing my own stories. Somehow as a result of school, work, and life responsibilities, I lost touch with my own passions. More recently, I touched base with Jessica Charles, the creator of Literary Lovers Magazine, and expressed my interest in writing reviews and possibly other columns for the magazine and here we are today.
The book world gave me a new beginning. It allowed me to get back in touch with my most loved hobbies and it gave me an outlet to speak on important topics such as the one I bring you today. In honor of November being Adopt A Senior Pet month, I encourage all readers to adopt from shelters and rescues, but more importantly, consider adopting a senior animal. Many are overlooked because of their age, but just because they are older, does not mean they are approaching the end. They are all looking for their new beginnings and all they need is a safe home and warm hearts to love them for the rest of their days. Every day I look at Buttons, I am reminded of how precious life is and how important being in the present moment is.
A huge thank you to everyone at Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and Tuff Tails Rescue for making Buttons’ new beginning possible for Matt and I. Thank you, Jenna Galicki for passing the message along to my mom and I. And thank you Jessica Charles for making me a part of the Literary Lovers family.
