You’ll find these questions, and many similar, in just about any book club page on Facebook or comments section on Goodreads. People are always looking for a new series, a new author, or a new genre. How do people decide what to read next? Some may rely on personal recommendations. Some may just strike out on their own and pick up whatever grabs them.

Some may just strike out on their own and pick up whatever grabs them. But with the spread of social media, an ever-growing number of people turn to book reviews to help them pick their next novel.

Now, I’m going to start with a confession. I’m fairly new to book reviews. I only started writing them in earnest in May of 2018, when (at the suggestion of a friend) I signed on to NetGalley. (For those of you who are unfamiliar, NetGalley is a free website where a person can sign up to receive advanced digital copies of books for review. Fantastic resource!).
