A Reluctant Goodbye
Your eyes, like hazel orbs, shine with unshed tears;
Like mine, reflect the pain that is soon to come,
For we will not see one another in the coming years.
It is my chance to leave, to see who I will become.
Maybe with distance we will heal some,
Or maybe what people say is true: the heart grows fonder.
Just the thought of leaving you makes me numb.
These are thoughts I probably should not ponder –
But no, I have to leave! It’s my time to wander.
The threads that bind us together,
They need to be cut. I am a condor,
Ready to fly, ready to tear this tether.
- Please don’t let me go, I love you
And I know you love me too.
