The video is about the affordable housing crisis in DC and how people are managing to stay in their homes. The journalist, Aelia Gonzales, interviewed Samuel Bugs, who lives at the building that TOPA helped the residents buy. He said,‘’ without TOPA, I probably would not have been able to live here. I could not afford to live in this neighborhood.’’ Back in 2011, the tenants got notified by the owners that they wanted to sell it. With the help of Jubilee Housing, the tenants were able to keep it. CNHED made a study analyzing the District’ s housing market from 2006 to 2020, and they found that TOPA is responsible for maintaining over 16,000 units.

The video that we just watched was about domestic violence. Christy, whose exboyfriend tried to kill her, explained how horrible her experience was. She said that he was a nice person, but once they moved together, he changed his behaviors. He started being verbally mean and then proceeded to be physically mean to her. He began pushing her around. She was afraid of being with him and she left him. Christy hid at her mom’ s house, but he found her. He went into the garage and pulled her out by her hair and started to beat her leaving her face bloody. Fortunately, before that day, she made a call to the Crisis Center and they helped her. Finally, she feels much better now and she is getting back to her normal life. This interview can be informative for people who are living in that situation.
