I was fortunate to join CR as a teacher assistant, where I had the chance to give back to the immigrant and DC communities that I was once a part of. It was incredibly rewarding to help others on their journey, just as this school had helped me.
Later, I transitioned to a full-time role as a basic computer teacher, and for the past five years, I’ ve been teaching the intermediate computer class, called IC3 here at SG campus.
Looking back, I feel so grateful for the sacrifices I made and the support I received along the way. Today, I can say with confidence that CR changed my life. Not only did I gain valuable skills, but I also found a community of incredible colleagues, some of whom were my former teachers. They pushed me to challenge myself, believed in me, and helped me grow into who I am today.
Thank you Mr. Ceballos! Thank you Mr. Ladd!
To the students here tonight, I want to share a message of hope and encouragement: I know how difficult the journey can be. There will be challenges, but if you commit to working hard and staying dedicated, you can achieve anything. I did it, and I know that each of you can, too, and perhaps even accomplish more than you ever imagined.
As a CR employee, I want to remind you that this school is here to support you every step of the way. You have passionate teachers who are committed to helping you succeed. But remember, success is a partnership. Show up on time, complete your assignments, collaborate with your classmates, and take advantage of the opportunities here.
As an immigrant, I encourage you to dream big, work hard, and never stop believing in yourself. You’ ve already accomplished something extraordinary by leaving your home country, adapting to a new culture, and learning a new language. The hardest part is behind you. Now, it’ s about building on that foundation and taking steps every day toward the future you came here to create.
Thank you so much to CR for giving me the opportunity to share my story and to each student at CR, I wish you all the best on your journey, and I hope you have an amazing and successful Spring semester!
Thank you!
