Let me introduce myself.
I am Elinet from Venezuela. I have two broth-
ers and one sister. I have a son, Hector, who
is 10 years old. I work 30 hours a week as a
dishwasher. I like to sleep. I don’t like to iron
clothes.
I am an immigrant and this is my story. I came
to the US with my son this year in the summer.
I have been in DC for seven months. I came
because I hope for a better and safer life.
Now, I am in the United States, I have many
goals and dreams. Next year around this time, I
want to be in a higher ESL class. But what I re-
ally want is to be more stable with my son. I am
learning English because I need to understand
when people speak English to me. In 5 years, I
want to have my family together. My dream is
to see my son become independent and to help
him develop professionally. I hope to be able
to have professional opportunities as I did in
my home country I want to have a position in
business administration.
