The Most Inspiring Person I have Ever Met …Indeed, towards the end of the afternoon, my father and I saw that a few persons remained in the beach and the area of sun-beds and umbrellas of the nearest hotel was completely empty. Given these circumstances, we decided to sit for a moment in one of the sun-beds while we watched the sun go down. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a police officer approached my father and told him in a rude manner to get out of there because, as Cubans, we were not supposed to be in any of the hotel areas. We left immediately and my father did not say a word about it later on, but anyone could tell, just by looking at his face, the mixture of disillusionment, frustration, and humiliation he was experiencing. To see such a generous man, the same one who tried to save lives, day after day, in the poorest conditions, defeated in such a way, broke my heart. After so many years, I am still trying to piece it back together… …Under these circumstances, how could I not be inspired by this wonderful man who has gone through many difficulties and yet has not lost his jovial and gentle smile? My father is a noble and decent man, who has rightly earned my deep admiration. Furthermore, it is an undeniable fact that he has been the most caring and supportive Dad I could have asked for. 34 by Celia Baez
