Esperanza Rising was the first English book that I read . When our teacher Laurel read it to us on the first day of school and then later after a few months , it was hard for us for us to believe we finished it . But we enjoyed Laurel ’ s reading and talking about it with Steven in the Library . They pushed us forward .
