The Disastrous War Between the U.S. and Iraq By Maynor Lopez 47 Level 7 The war between the United States and Iraq had a grave influence on the planet earth in many bad ways. For example “Madness”, Edgard Nkolo-Abdoulaye, Canvas, burlap on canvas, 30x40 Teacher: Eric Schubert, Level 5 Evening, Fall 2009 it influenced the economy, caused pollution, diseases and thousands of deaths. Despite this, humans do not think about these terrible problems and they destroy our planet. Since the United States began the war with Iraq, the economy of the United States has broken down, and the country fell into a horrific crisis. First of all, because the war between the U.S. and Iraq has swallowed a lot of money, the government of the United States is overwhelmed with debts to other countries. Another bad effect is that what Iraq exports to the United States which is petroleum, has cause petroleum prices rise and be inflated. That rise has caused many businesses to go bankrupt. Therefore, this also caused a large amount of people who live in the United States to lose their jobs. In conclusion, the rise of the cost of petroleum made not only many industries in the United States break down, but industries all over the world. Thus, this has also caused unemployment and poverty worldwide. Another consequence of the war between the United States and Iraq is the pollution. In addition to deaths when two sides confronted each other in the battle, the war polluted the environment. For example, they exploded bombs and fired lots of shots. All the smoke gave off noxious fumes. Furthermore, all these noxious fumes are affecting the atmosphere and the ozone layer, all this provokes global warming. This causes the entire vegetation of the soil to dry out and to not produce anything.
