imagining this very personal space as their own. Make sure clean towels are
neatly folded on the rods (We recommend putting out new towels used just for
showings and not for personal use when the home is on the market). ALL
surfaces – countertop, commode, tub and shower – must be IMMACULATE!
We all know what bathrooms are used for, but you don’t want to leave the
evidence for a buyer to see; you want them to believe that bathroom is never
used.
Make the beds and put away laundry every day. Again, we are going
for the “no one lives here” image; buyers need to be imagining themselves
living there, not imagining what you are like. Upgrading the bedding is a great
instant improvement to make to the bedrooms in your home. Inexpensive bed
sets are readily available, but do try to keep the colors neutral and avoid busy
patterns.
When know all to well that when you are living in a home that is listed
for sale it is extremely difficult to keep a home as clean as a model home. So
we recommend hiring or enlisting extra help. If you already have a house
cleaner, consider doubling up on their visits while the home is on the market.
If you don’t use a cleaner, consider having someone come help you do a deep
clean on the home so you can target areas that you don’t normally address.
Having an initial deep clean makes a world of difference as is lowers the
amount of cleaning needed prior to each showing.
Summary: If you are just about to list your home, or if your home is
already on the market, its not too late to improve its sale potential. Increase
your curb appeal, and then tackle the interior of the house. Start with
cleanliness, remove all personal hygiene and cosmetic products and make your
master bedroom an oasis with plush bedding. These improvements take some
work but will dramatically improve the impression of your home on potential
buyers which leads to getting more attractive offers from them.
