nternational model Jocelyn Binder was born to be a star , constantly in demand she has graced the covers of magazines such as Maxim , Playboy South Africa and Bazaar and yet from looking at her stunning photo ’ s no one would guess she is a two-time cancer survivor and author of “ Sexy After Breast Cancer ”.
Her life story is uplifting , one of positivity and inspiration . We sit down and speak to her to discuss health , wellness and finding the right man .
You started modelling at 15 , what attracted you to the industry ? l love playing dress-up , plus I love playing in front of the camera and being a collaborator in the creation of art .
Who do you admire within the modelling industry ? The modelling industry has changed so much over the years and I truly admire women like Kate Moss who were able to defy the odds with their height ( and now age ).
What would you say is the most difficult part about being a model ?
The most difficult part is definitely the competition . There is always someone taller , thinner , or younger than you so it ' s all about maintaining your network , working hard , and maintaining yourself so that you are always on you ’ re a-game .
At age 28 you were diagnosed with Cancer how did that affect you ?
I was first diagnosed with breast cancer which then progressed to my lymph nodes , I had to undergo chemotherapy and have a double mastectomy , I also lost all my hair . In my book “ Sexy After Breast Cancer ” I detail the different ways that strengthening the mind and body creates healing , by combining an intense health regiment that combined both Eastern and Western medicine I was able defeat this disease and heal . I am very thankfully ! Today , I have no detectable traces of cancer in my body but it costs a lot to keep me alive . I ’ m currently on endocrine therapy , which I ’ ll be on until the day my disease progresses .
